Phonics

You all have the link to the lessons related to the sound sets that your child is learning. If you cannot find your link or you have forgotten which sounds your child is learning please send me a message on Dojo.

Reading

Visit the Oxford Owl website to access their free e-library, which has Read Write Inc Phonics books to match where your child is at in phonics, and book banded books to match your child's school reading book level. You all have the login details for our class account to this site, but if you can't remember it please send me a message on Dojo.

You can also use books from your child's own book shelf for reading together, and you can now also join Earl Shilton's digital library. Don't worry if you're not a member of Earl Shilton Library, you can now join online. Just follow the link:

Literacy

Today in Literacy we are going to carry on thinking about different styles of sentences. Yesterday we learnt that there were 4 types of sentences:

  • Statement Sentences
  • Question Sentences
  • Command Sentences
  • Exclamation Sentences

Today you are going to have a go at trying to decide what type of sentences have been written. You are going to add the punctuation for statement sentencesquestions and exclamations to some sentences. You will then have the opportunity to have a go at writing some sentences.

I want everybody to complete the Silver Sentence Sorter Challenge, and I will be awarding a Diamond Dojo for anybody who completes the Gold Sentence Sorter Challenge too! Click on the red link below to access the video lesson.

Maths

Today in Maths we are starting a brand new topic all about using addition and subtraction with numbers up to 20. We are going to start the topic with an activity all about counting on from a number. There is no worksheet to complete today, but you have got a video lesson to start with.

After the video you will be playing a game using number cards and a dice which will be explained to you in the video. Just click on the link below for the video lesson. For the number cards just write numbers from 0 to 20 on to some pieces of paper. Alternately you can print out the number cards by clicking on the link below if you wish to. You will just need a standard dice with dots from 1 - 6 on it from a board game. If you haven't got a board  game with a dice you can either make your own dice from paper, or alternatively print a dice to make by clicking on the link below.

5 Minute Mindfulness Meditation

Take a few moments today for this Mindfulness Meditation activity. We always start every afternoon with some meditation just to help us, relax, focus and turn off from the business of the day for a few minutes. Click on the red link below to access the meditation.

RE

For today's RE task we are continuing to think about Special People. Last week you all told me about somebody who is special to you, but today we are going to think about people who are special to the church. You will need your workbook, a pencil and some coloured pencils or pens or crayons for this job (there is no worksheet). You can watch the lesson by clicking on the red link below
