Year 5/6 Hinckley Parks 7 a side Tournament February 2020

Cross country 2020 - well done to all of our amazing runners!!

After School Clubs -Spring Term

 

We are really proud to say that attendance at after school clubs has risen to 85 children this term! Children are taking part in cheer leading, hockey, multi sports, tag rugby and football. We are working towards 50% of the school taking part in an activity by Summer term taking us up to 103 children - not far to go!!!

Youth Sports Trust Girls Active Program 

A group of year 5 girls have been taking part in a project to get girls more active both in and out of school. The girls did a days training where they learned how to promote physical activity and how important it is for every child to be active for at least 60 minutes per day!

 

The girls have lead an assembly for all year groups, encouraged children to get involved in activities at lunch time and after school as well as creating a wall of fame in the hall where achievements of both children and staff can be celebrated! Keep up the hard work girls - you are amazing!

Year 3 / 4 Dodge ball December 2019

 

Two teams from year 3 and 4 went to the Dodge ball tournament at Heath Lane Academy at the beginning of December, coming 1st and 2nd and both qualifying for the level 2 finals!!

Year 5/6 Dodge ball November 2019

Year 5 /6 took part in a Dodge ball tournament at Heath Lane Academy in November finishing in second place and qualifying for the level 2 Dodge ball finals!

Hinckley and Bosworth Basket Ball level one Comp 22nd October

Year 5 and 6 went along to Green Towers to compete against 11 other schools in the area Basketball tournament! We did amazingly well and some of the children have been selected to take part in the level 2 finals in a few weeks time. Well done everyone!!

Jump rope UK Skipping Day 5th March 2019

On Tuesday 5th March St Peter's was visited by Stacey from Jump Rope UK. She worked with every class to learn skipping skills and encourage the children to use skipping as a tool to improve fitness, health and well being. All of the children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and were very enthusiastic about using our new ropes to skip and play games with at lunch times! The day finished with an assembly showcasing what the children had learned as well as an amazing demo from Stacey who is part of the British National Champion Skipping team!

 

 

Hinckley and Bosworth Cross Country Feb-March 2019

 During February and March this year, children from years 1-5 braved the sunshine and snow to represent St Peter's at cross country. The children all showed great determination and resilience and worked hard to improve their placing at each race. We have 5 children through to the county finals where they will represent Hinckley and Bosworth at Prestwold Hall on 23rd March. Good luck!!

Sponsored Event with Team GB Athlete Eden Francis!

On Tuesday 5th February Team GB Discus and Shot Put thrower Eden Francis came in to school to talk to us about her training, determination, perseverance and resilience. We raised money for school charities bay taking part in circuit training with Eden helping! We had a great day and learned so much!

Year 3/4 Handball 

At the beginning of December year 3 and 4 attended a handball festival. We all had great fun, trying a new sport that none of the children had played before! We showed great perseverance during the event and ended the festival finishing in second place!

Change for life festivals

 

 

 

In November, children from year 3/4 and 1/2 attended a change for life festival at Green Towers. The children learned all about how to become fit and healthy playing a range of games that they could play both at home and at school. They also learned all about nutrition and had a go at making a smoothie using the smoothie bike!

Reception Mini Bikers Training!

At the end of October all of our Reception class took part in Mini Bikers sessions. All of the children made great progress and by the end of the week, most were managing to ride their bikes independently!

Year 5 Combat Sports Event

On 9/10/18 year 5 attended a Combat Sports event where they had the opportunity to try out a range of different Martial Arts including Kick Boxing and Judo. They had a great time and we hope they will now be inspired to have a go out of school!

Year 6 Bubble Run!!!

On Friday 5th October, Year 6 took part in the Hinckley and Bosworth Bubble Run at St Margaret's Primary School. All the children were very active during the morning and had great fun!
