Monday

Here are the lessons for today's learning. Scroll down to find the lesson you are looking for.  The lessons are laid out in the order that they appear on the 'Example of what a day of remote learning might look like' document on the Year 1 Remote Learning homepage.

What's happening today?

Say our daily prayer and then look at our visual timetable to see what jobs you have lined up for today.

Handwriting

Today in handwriting, we are continuing to practice writing the letters that belong to the 'One armed robot' letter family. Today we will focus on writing the letter b.  As an extra challenge see if you can write some words beginning with the letter b. Click on the link below to access the lesson video.

Phonics

You all have the link to the lessons related to the sound sets that your child is learning. Your child also needs to look at the spelling videos as part of their phonics too. These have been shared with you. Start from lesson 1 of these videos and do 1 a day. They are working retrospectively, so your child should be starting to get familiar with the sounds they are being asked to spell with. If you cannot find your link or you have forgotten which sounds your child is learning please send me a message on Dojo.

Reading

Visit the Oxford Owl website to access their free e-library, which has Read Write Inc Phonics books to match where your child is at in phonics, and book banded books to match your child's school reading book level. You all have the login details for our class account to this site, but if you can't remember it please send me a message on Dojo.

You can also use books from your child's own book shelf for reading together, and you can now also join Earl Shilton's digital library. Don't worry if you're not a member of Earl Shilton Library, you can now join online. Just follow the link:

Physical Activity

For our physical activity this week we are off to the Dough Disco with Mrs. Oliver and Miss White. Each day either Mrs. Oliver or Miss White will take you and your dough to the disco for a finger workout!

Today we're going to Dough Disco with Miss White! Click the link to access the video.

Literacy

Today in Literacy we are continuing with the Cinderella story. You need to begin by watching my lesson video. You will be creating your own finger puppet characters to help you retell the Cinderella story, which you will do from your story map. I have posted a copy of some ready-made finger puppets below, but if you are feeling creative, you could make your own. You'll need some paper to draw on, colouring pencils or felt pens, lolly sticks or pencils to stick your characters on and some tape or glue. Click on the link below to access the video lesson.

Maths

In today's Maths lesson we will look at Counting forwards and backwards within 50. Click on the links below to access the resources for this lesson.

5 Minute Mindfulness Meditation

Take a few moments today for this Mindfulness Meditation activity. We always start every afternoon with some meditation just to help us, relax, focus and turn off from the business of the day for a few minutes. Click on the red link below to access the meditation.

Science

This week we are going to continue our Everyday Materials learning with Miss Harris from Oak National Academy. We are moving on to lesson 3 - How can I describe an object?  For today's lesson you will need your writing book, or some paper to write on, a pencil and coloured pencils. You can access the lesson by clicking the link below.

Science Challenge

When you have finished the video, for an extra challenge, you could draw a poster showing what you have learned.  First you could choose 3 everyday objects to draw, then label each object and finally add some information about what material each object is made of and its properties.

End of day story

Today we're going to listen to one of my favourites:

The Rainbow Fish
