Phonics

You all have the link to the lessons related to the sound sets that your child is learning. If you cannot find your link or you have forgotten which sounds your child is learning please send me a message on Dojo.

Reading

Visit the Oxford Owl website to access their free e-library, which has Read Write Inc Phonics books to match where your child is at in phonics, and book banded books to match your child's school reading book level. You all have the login details for our class account to this site, but if you can't remember it please send me a message on Dojo.

You can also use books from your child's own book shelf for reading together, and you can now also join Earl Shilton's digital library. Don't worry if you're not a member of Earl Shilton Library, you can now join online. Just follow the link:

Literacy

For today's Literacy lesson you will be revisiting the Text Map that you created at the beginning of the week. Hopefully you will have been practicing retelling the report of the Royal Ball throughout the week. Today you are going to practice retelling the report using your text map one final time. This time, however, I would like your grown ups to film you retelling this and post that on to Dojo for your Literacy work today. If you haven't been able to practice retelling your text map, and you can't quite remember what it said refer back to the original report, and my text map which I shared with you. Click on the red link below to access the video lesson.

Note: The video cuts out at the end. The only thing that was cut off was "I look forward to seeing your videos."

Maths

Today in Maths we are going to continue thinking about counting on from a number. You might want to use your ten frames with objects, and a number line to help you solve the problems today. For the video lesson and the worksheet click on the links below.

5 Minute Mindfulness Meditation

Take a few moments today for this Mindfulness Meditation activity. We always start every afternoon with some meditation just to help us, relax, focus and turn off from the business of the day for a few minutes. Click on the red link below to access the meditation.

Art & Design

Today in Art & Design we are starting a new topic all about portraits. The children will have a go at drawing their own self-portrait. For this activity they will need a pencil, ruler, black pen and colours for their face, eyes and hair. The children can use the sheet below to draw their portrait on if they want but this is not necessary, they can just draw their portrait straight on to paper. I have also attached the steps to draw a self-portrait for them to refer to. Unfortunately the video lesson would not upload as one file so I have had to split it into 2 parts. Click on the red links to access each part of the video lesson.
